Hamble Winter Series Day 2 - Fluky!

Published 10:54 on 12 Oct 2015

Despite forecasts predicting a reasonable breeze the Sigma 38 fleet had to deal with a very fluky northeast breeze which didn't go above 11 knots and sometimes dropped as low as 5. The definition of fluky never seemed more apt. The constantly shifting and uncertain wind meant the fleet had their work cut out racing the modern, light Js that make up most of the rest of class 3. In the first race Persephone overcame adversity to win. With Alacrity with four different Sigma 38 owners crewing on board finished second. Light was third. For the second race with even less wind and the tide even stronger With Alacrity mastered the light best to take the bullet, with Light second. The constantly improving team on Paracelsus crossed the line in third. Congratulations also go to Mefisto, unfortunately racing out of class, who sailed fantastically well.
