"Slownet" 17th August 8:30

Published 08:37 on 17 Aug 2015

Despite the slow, slow start the 13 Sigma 38s are all currently past Portland Bill and almost off Salcolme. The leaders have already completed 100 nautical miles of the 608 nautical mile course. Even the last Sigma 38 is only 34 nautical miles behind. As usual the magnetic attraction between With Alacrity and Persephone lives on, the two boats are neck and neck. Currently With Alacrity just has the edge, Chris, Vanessa and friends are currently 9th in IRC 4 and 127 out of an overall total of 365. Tim and Nigel Goodhew and crew are 10 in class and 128 overall although they are sailing a tiny bit faster currently. The next Sigma 38 is Sam, 18th in class. Battles are being played out through out the 71 fleet strong IRC 4. Jon England's Vitesse and Steve Orland's Galliver are 58th and 59th in class and Yoda and Paracelsus are 66th and 67.

The wind is currently NNE, 8 to 10 knots but sadly for the teams looks like it's going to drop and once again the day is going to demand patience, perseverance, pluck and perhaps chocolate! We know your brains are frying with concentration but we would love any snippet of information or photos. Go Sigma 38s, go!
